Storefront detail mockups
Storefront
Storefront is a sculpture edited down to its most necessary part, the window display. Its form is made of three connective parts on wheels: two exhibition windows and a doorway.
Artists were asked to negotiate Storefront as a form and space. They did this by consideration of its environment and window display. Artists were given freedom to do whatever they wanted with the project. They were asked to choose the role(s) for the artist who made the Storefront, Denver Lynxleg. They could ask her to operate within or outside of the project. The roles they could choose from were as follows: curator, facilitator, artists helper, administrator, organizer, builder, designer, collaborator, etc.
It presents the image of self-reliance for the arts, nomadic, cheap, and free from landlords and government funding agencies.
Storefront currently in storage at 151 W. Hastings with artist Shawna McLellan.
For the time being the purpose of this blog is to serve as a document of Storefront and to accumulate images, inspirations and interests of the project.
